Refurbishment

If your tool requires substantial repair and service in order to get it to acceptable operational condition, Volant will recommend a refurbishment plan that will return your tool to “like new” condition. This will enable you to extend the life of your asset, maximize the return on your investment and continue to deploy your tool with confidence.

Consistently achieving top tier equipment reliability requires a solid plan and disciplined execution. The best way to ensure your tools will perform as expected is to have them properly serviced in accordance to the recommended intervals specified in the Volant Product Manuals.

Upgrade

Our dedicated engineering experts are continuously identifying and implementing enhancements and upgrades to ensure our products perform to the best of their ability. Augmented design features, additional specifications and tool functions allow us to further improve safety, productivity and efficiency.

CRTi®/CRTe® with Legacy Quad Cam
to ActiveSET™ CRTi/CRTe with vCAM™

  • Improve safety, efficiency and effectiveness while reducing run times.
    • More repeatable actions performed more quickly.
    • Increase consistency between drillers.
    • Increase driller confidence.
    • Minimize driller training.
Standard CRTi/CRTe to ActiveSET
  • Tool activation is streamlined to a single step by simply stabbing into the casing joint.
  • Allows the driller to immediately begin casing makeup without any additional actions.
  • Bumper lockout feature prevents unintentional release of the tool during transport, rig-in and rig-out.
Legacy Quad Cam to vCAM1
  • Simplified tool disengagement to set down directly into the latch from the break-out position due to the positional based latching function.
  • Maintains ability to disengage tool by the familiar operation of setting down and rotating to the left.
  • Provides option for increased torque to 100,000 ft.lb. on CRTi2-8.63 tool with vCAM.
  1. vCAM is only available with ActiveSET tools.

Legacy Quad Cam to Low-Release Quad Cam

  • Reduced rotations needed to make-up the tool, roughly, by a factor of two.
    • Shortens time required to engage and release the tool on every joint, therefore reducing overall time to complete the casing run.
    • Eliminates confusion when paint lines realign at one rotation giving the appearance that the tool is latched when it is fully engaged.
  • Lowered release ratio requires less breakout torque to disengage the tool.
  • Simplified design uses fewer parts for easier maintenance and assembly.2
    • Key Latch components that engaged with the pockets on the outer surface of the Cam Latch in the Legacy Quad Cam Set have been eliminated.
    • The Lugs that once engaged into the Key Latch now mate directly into slots on the Cam Latch.
  1. This applies only to CRTi low-release cams. All standard CRTe models are designed with low-release cams and maintain the Lugs and Key Latch components on the Cam Latch.

High-Capacity Mandrel

  • Higher hoist capacities for existing tools without needing to change to a different tool model.
    • Increased hoist due to mandrels being manufactured out of high strength material.
    • Increased combined load capacity when mandrel is used in combination with low-release quad cam or vCAM.

CRTe Bumper Latch

  • Improve safety, efficiency and effectiveness while reducing run times.
    • Prevents premature engagement of CRTe to pipe that could result in accidental gripping of the casing coupling in instances where gross misalignment could cause the casing to snag on the dies while stabbing and simulate as if the tool was in contact with the bumper.
    • Requires casing coupling to be in full contact with bumper before the CRTe tool can be engaged, ensuring the dies will always grip the pipe below the casing coupling.

Mixed String 10-3/4 x 9-5/8 for CRTi2-8.63

  • Significantly reduces the time to change over from one size to the other and reduces the amount of equipment on location.
    • Two-piece jaw/die that enables die and seal element change over in 15 minutes (or less) while still rigged in.
    • The quick change over is possible by using a common jaw plus a size and weight specific die that can be removed easily and quickly.
    • When switching over to the new size, only the dies and seal assembly require swap out and is performed while the tool remains rigged in.

CRTi2-4.5HW

  • Provides the ability to run a full range of 4.5″ casing, up to 15.1 ppf, with an internal gripping tool.
    • Increased hoist and torque, available over the entire gripping range of the tool.
